HoG Supports #BlackOutBlackFriday

As you know, today is Black Friday, however in light of the recent Grand Jury grand fuckup (deciding not to indict Darren Wilson in the murder of Michael Brown), we here at HoG are committed to support protestors who have asked for a general boycott of Black Friday.

Instead, we encourage you to do the following to show your support:

  1. Don’t shop today unless it’s a Black-owned store or small local store. Don’t support big companies with your money. Show the world that Black lives matter and use your purchasing power to send a message: No Justice, No Profits!
  2. Black out your social media profile picture to show solidarity
  3. Follow and RT activists on the ground. Here are some great accounts to follow:

Here is a great article from Lucette Jefferson on 36 Black-owned Etsy stores: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/22/buy-black-friday_n_2176509.html

And another from Afrobella on 101 Independent Black Businesses: http://www.afrobella.com/2014/11/26/101-independent-black-owned-businesses-support-blackout-friday/
